Biography
Born on 5 February 1985 in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal, Cristiano Ronaldo grew up in a modest family and discovered football at a very young age. His extraordinary talent was spotted early by Sporting CP, and he made his professional debut at sixteen before joining Manchester United in 2003 for twelve million pounds sterling.
Under Sir Alex Ferguson's guidance, Ronaldo evolved from a flashy winger into a complete and prolific striker. He won his first Ballon d'Or in 2008, the same year Manchester United claimed the Champions League title. In 2009, Real Madrid paid a then-world-record fee of 94 million euros to secure his services, and the Galácticos era truly began.
At Real Madrid, Ronaldo reached unparalleled heights: four Champions League titles, two La Liga championships, and four more Ballon d'Or awards between 2013 and 2017. He became the club's all-time leading scorer with over 450 goals. In the 2016 European Championship final, he led Portugal to victory despite being forced off the pitch injured early in the game.
After three seasons at Juventus (2018-2021), winning two Serie A titles, Ronaldo returned to Manchester United briefly before moving to Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia in January 2023. Approaching forty, he surpassed 900 career goals, an absolute world record across all football history.
Ronaldo's legacy extends far beyond sport. His relentless work ethic, physical dedication, and competitive drive have redefined what it means to perform at the highest level into the late stages of a career. His fifteen-year rivalry with Lionel Messi elevated the sport globally, and he remains one of the most recognized and commercially successful athletes in the world.
